State-state wars are becoming nearly impossible these days. It's taken a long time but everyone understands now that direct conflict between two powers is not beneficial to anyone. With democracy spreading to every corner of Earth it's even less likely.

Asymmetrical warfare, cyber warfare, and trade war are the ways of the future. Regimes like the DPRK are becoming less likely to emerge as the Internet has put governments in check. You'll still get some tyrannical vibes from governments but creating wars is political suicide to any nation that doesn't have a very powerful centralized government with no duty to serve its people.
