The AF retro Nam tiger stripe is terrible too but at least it kinda blends in.

I think now they mostly use the M4 which is a shortened version of the M16A2. But I don't think the A2 has been retired though. I never really kept up with it because I was a tanker we had the M9.

The uniforms were designed to looked squared away when in garrison. We were expected to be pressed and boots shined at all times. The uniforms today can't even be ironed and the boots cannot be shined.
Here's the boots I wore (and still own BTW)
