3 years ago the answer would have been a resounding YES. The shine is off Pearl now after 3 years at AU.
However, his team this year was very young. I think there was a graphic in the LSU game last night that Auburn is ranked in the top four in the nation (either 2 or 3 I think) as far as the % of their total points which are scored by Freshmen. He pulled in a top 10 recruiting class last season and he has two four star (top ~50 players) coming in next year.
It may have taken longer than he wanted, but there are signs that Auburn could be on the upswing very soon.
I doubt Pearl would leave right when he thinks he may start seeing the fruits of his recruiting labor. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea for LSU to consider one of his former assistants, Steve Forbes. JA would have to get over the fact that Forbes was caught up in the Pearl/Tenn. scandal, but he can flat out recruit and may prove to be just as good a coach
