Most ships have wifi on them nowadays.

I got out in 2012. This is news to me, and I worked in the IT department.

Our shifts were 12 on and 12 off. I'd work from 7pm-7am (although it was more like 6-8), eat breakfast, work out, shower, sleep, and do it again. Being out to sea was like Groundhog Day

This wifi thing in the Navy is hilarious to me. On the sub, we didn't even really have any semblance of internet for upwards of 45 days between ports. Absolutely no contact with the real world off the boat with the exception of maybe 2 emails that have been stripped down and read by god and country prior to getting to the boat. Stars and Stripes would send us a weekly news update with a few scores from different games around the country.

Other than that, once the hatch was shut, you didn't talk to a soul that wasn't on board between port calls.

Surface guys had is so easy... Fake Navy and Fake News.
