He can guard almost everyone on the court, hits 40% of his threes, and is a good slasher and finisher at the rim, making almost league minimum money. What more do you want?
He can't guard anybody on the court. Ya'll are focusing way too much on him being a jack of all trades and not enough on him being an ace of none. And when I say ace, I don't mean all-star level. I mean competent NBA player level.
He is not a good slasher or finisher. He makes 1.3 2 point FGs per game and 0.3 FTs in 24 minutes. He has a PER of 8.98. His real plus minus is -1.94. Solomon Hill is the only player on the team besides the big 3 who has a positive real plus minus at .01.
Hill is awful on offense but he is also a big contributor to us having a top 10 defense. Cunningham is awful on offense and we have a top 10 defense in spite of him.

This is why he makes $3M/yr. He's isn't an ace of anything. But he can still hit a 3, finish, and play good defense. No one that has watched him play over the last 2 years would say he's anything close to a liability on defense. He literally comes in the game just for defense at the end of games, b/c he can switch onto just about anyone and guard them effectively.

Yes he is. Do you watch the games? Are you confusing slasher/finisher with a guy that penetrates? If you hit DC cutting to the goal, he's going to dunk it. He is the best on the team at it without a doubt. Problem is our offense has little movement so you don't see it often.

So you don't watch games and base everything on stats. Gotcha.
Cunningham isnt' awful on offense. Anyone that hits 40% of their 3's isn't awful. If you hit him cutting to the goal, he will dunk it and finish the play. No he doesn't get to the free throw line. It's b/c he never has the ball except to shoot a three or finish at the rim after cutting to the basket. That's his role. He ins't a scorer, a ball handler, or a facilitator, which is why he makes $3M/yr.
Hill is a better defender than him, but that doesn't mean Cunningham sucks on defense. Hill is worse on offense, and makes a lot more money than him. No one cares when Hill shoots a 3. that's a win for the defense. You at least have to respect Cunningham when he shoots.
