Seems like you and I want that. Seems like many here want that.

The problem is: What now? How do we vote in people who comply with our wishes.

How do we actually drain the swamp? I actually believe that Trump wants/wanted to do just that then found out he was nearly the only one in DC that agreed.

I want them all exposed. wire tap them all. Hassle all of them all the time. Make it a pain in the arse to be a big gov politician of any stripe.

Give fed gov defense and one or two other roles and tell the states to work together to figure out the rest.

Pipe dream, I know.

Agreed. I'm very much a states' rights Libertarian. Problem is, government has gotten so big, and the side not in power will say, "Let's reduce the power!"

Then they get elected.

And realize that would now mean THEIR power.

Suddenly, there's no interest in reducing the power.

Trump made a lot of mistakes. He put cronies in place in his cabinet. They weren't experts (with the exception of Mattis), just people he liked. Just like every president before him.

Trump may have wanted to drain the swamp before he got there, but nothing has really given a strong indication that he still feels that way.

As long as they know with near 100% certainly that you're not going to "go against the team" next cycle, they can do pretty much whatever they want. The House has an approval rating in the teens, yet every 2 years, fewer and fewer districts remain competitive.
