Clemson was only able to move the ball against Alabama because Saban had built that defense top-to-bottom - including everything from personnel to style of play - in order to beat LSU.
Look at Alabama's losses the past few years: Clemson, OSU, Ole Miss x2, aTm... All have one thing in common.
The irony is that Saban will inevitably adjust and reconfigure his defense to be better suited for the likes of these teams. At that point, a vintage Les Miles offense would give you as good a chance to beat them (and pretty much everyone else) as any.

What - all you want, he wasn't fired for doing a GREAT JOB

There ability to play 2 nts in 2015 just decimated our oline. They are just so talented and created to stop the run that you have to attack their secondary and force their secondary to be the playmakers. Bama has kore players in their front 7 with a 1st rd grade than our entire team. There front 7 is ridiculous and we tried doing the same we tried last year.

Yup, and the reason those players were deemed a priority in recruiting and that scheme imemented is because Saban viewed LSU as his biggest threat to make the SECCG and playoff.

On a side-note, I'm fascinated to see what he'll do to neutralize the likes of DeShawn Watson-like QBs in spread offenses the way he has power run teams the past five or six years.

No team in cfb recruits well enough on the oline to be able to run a prostyle offense, dependant on a fb blocker, and have success. The only way to beat bama today is to spread them out and run off of the passing game. Their front 7 is just too talented to try to impose their will upon bama.

I realize that, and I wanted Jimbo Fisher. But we know how that goes. Alleva can't do anything other than get used by a high level coach for a raise instead of actually considering the job. But I have confidence in O. Not complete confidence, but I feel pretty good about this coaching staff in its entirety getting us back to double digit wins

OK, you go ahead and put the Bama and Florida losses on him when he had a couple weeks in-season to make changes on the fly and try and become a little less predictable
he managed to run a less predictable offense 4 days after being hired than the one ran against Bama few weeks later.
so if he can do it in 4 days, he sure he'll should be able to do something in a month.

As of right now I agree with you 100%. My contention is that Saban going forward will retool his defense to be able to better match-up against the Clemsons of the world, and that will likely involve moving toward lighter, faster linebackers among other changes.
The reason your point is correct is because for more than half a decade Saban saw the LSU game as the one that would make or break their season. I suspect that is no longer the case, and as a result I suspect he'll redesign his defense going forward to better equipped to stop the types of teams that have had success against him in the time since LSU last beat them.

geez - how lame does it get in March Football talk ?

quote:i wish posters like you would stop with the predictable shite. Under Miles lsu ran out of more formation than every single spread offense. Those great oregon offenses ran the same exact play 50 % of the time. Kelly's entire playbook consists of 4 running plays. Cfb is about execution. No coach has enough on the field practice time to be implementing a huge variety of plays. They only have 20 hours a week to practice. Thats why having returning starters on offense and at qb is supposed to be an advantage. You get to add to the plays of last year. If you paid attention to other programs like you do to lsun youd notice tendencies with them too. Especially these spread teams and hunh teams. Their offensed are far more simple than lsu's offense.
, you go ahead and put the Bama and Florida losses on him when he had a couple weeks in-season to make changes on the fly and try and become a little less predictable
ETA: do you tout lsu looking better offensively under Orgeron? If so then you have to blame him for Bama and trying the same bullshite gameplan as last year. Where were the plays with LF and Guice in the same backfield? Why didnt Guice get any carries? Where were the passes to the TE? You cant boast about how good LSU looked against Arky , Missouri and ole miss and then give O a pass for florida (a 14 point underdog at home while they were missing tons of defensive starters)and bama.

Nope, but ALL of those consecutive losses to Alabama hurt pretty badly. ESPECIALLY when he was outcoached in them.

I blame Les Miles for 90% of the negativity on this board regarding LSU football.

I'll give you 2012 (1/9) & 2013 (when he was unable to refocus the team after JC Copeland's fumble at the goalline). Had he scored there, I suspect that game turns out very differently.
2014 I blame the refs first and foremost for the BS personal foul call when we were fixing to put the game away. Secondary blame goes to Peveto and whoever it was that kicked it OOB.
2015 and 2016 they were just better and more talented, plain and simple.

2012 and 2014 he gave a chavis defense a lead with minute to go. Just think how loved and revered he would be had Saban gotten Drew Brees in Miami instead of Culpepper. Its crazy how someone 6 degrees away have consequences.

Miles was a crap coach by the time he was fired.
Les won more games in his last five years than Saban won in his five yours at LSU, clown. Some here are retarded beyond believe.
If it wasn't for the fact that I never want LSU to lose in anything, it would be fun watching the haters here stew in their own poor fan juices.
Remember the hater thinking, ten wins don't mean shite and any coach can will win ten games at LSU.
So, anything under eleven wins next year is a failed season. Right, haters!

If we go 8-5, i'm blaming everyone. Even you.

Facts have no place in a discussion about Les Miles. A poster in this thread had the ignorance to post that Miles was a bad hire.

They really believe that Miles was the only thing standing in the way of lsu having a bama type run.
