At least those affected have zero warning like many years ago.
With the doppler radar, etc. there is as much notice as can be. Speaking from experience, there really isn't much more you can do, day or night, when preparing for an imminent tornado if you haven't already prepared.

Experienced a small one in Tioga, LA in October 2001. That was enough for me. Hopefully I won't see another one.
