My dad always ate his steaks very well done - and my mom always bought sirloin. He grew up poor but did very well in life. But even when he moved on to filets at Ruth's, it was still well done with those delicious crispy edges.
I grew up thinking this was how you ate steak and that a boneless sirloin was the good stuff. . Took me ttil my 30s to reach medium, then til my 40s to appreciate a medium rare ribeye or strip.
