Should I wait till April or May to book or book now? The prices are high due to the holiday.

I hear 6 weeks is the sweet spot. Most are happy with 3-350, but it may drop to 250. Track the flights on google flight, they will send you price changes

I paid $500/ticket last year to cancun over 4th of July. If it's less than that then go ahead and buy.
