Hijack. Thinking about going there in may? Would this be a good time to go to Jackson hole and explore the city and surrounding areas ?

I go around May every year for work. Weather is usually in the 50-60s and sunny during the day, and it drops to the 30s at night. There isn't much to do in Jackson itself, but I spend 3 extra days each time I go, rent a car, and travel around Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Mind you I go by myself, but I find it very enjoyable exploring the parks.

Probably (and it may not be close) the worst month to go. But if that's your only time, do it. There's still plenty to do. Its the mud season because the snow is melting. Rivers are brown, some roads close, and much of the ski resort and parks have limited hours and access.

Given that, I wouldn't tell you not to go. Its still a great place and tons to do.

They call May the mud season but I can't imagine anytime not good for JH. For the other guy, log on to seejh.com and look at the Elk Preserve. You can see the animals. Awesome. You can rent a carriage or whatever you call it to ride up close. The only downside is the road to the Teton's is closed. But a snowmobile is good.
