Thanks, Phillip. That's what I'm thinking but I wouldn't mind being able to use 4k blurays. I just wasn't sure if they'd be worth it if I didn't have HDR on my tv.

Tiger, I really just use the apps on the TV. Really just Netflix. That's why I wanted to get this because I feel like outside of upscaling HD I don't use my tv for all it's worth.

If it helps my tv is a Sony xbr-800b

I have a 830C so I'm in that boat with you. I'm not a gamer so I don't know about games but I'm familiar with the UHD disc players. For me it's the cost of the disc that I can't justify. I can get the player at cost but I'm not buying $30 disc.

As far as 4K HDR vs non HDR 4K yes you can see a noticeable difference on a 10 bit panel. But if you are currently watching 1080p then you would benefit from a 4K player. Outside of UHD disc I find Amazon to have good content. Noticeable difference from the regular content and their UHD content.
