an association sounds like a union? i'm assuming you are talking a labor union. i'm not sure what your background or level of education is but your brain is experiencing a major disconnect if you think an association of professionals in the same field is like a labor union. it's a stretch but perhaps the association (if formed) could lobby parish government for better working conditions or something. labor unions exist to improve the lot of their members and are recognized by law as such. associations are not and exist to promote their industry by regulating their members and lobbying government for laws and regulations promoting their industry (or profession).
