The only time I see those Nissan's at my shop is when they get water in the transmission from the faulty radiator. We reman the trans and instead of replacing the radiator we bypass it with a big external cooler. That saves you about 400 $500.

I pulled the dipstick and it looked normal. Had a sweet smell. But, Google says both trans and coolant smell sweet. If I have the fluid changed, will that last awhile?

Take off the radiator cap. If there are milky white goo on the cap you have transmission fluid in your radiator.
I had an '07 frontier with the aforementioned leak/cooler issue. Mine started shuddering when it would go into overdrive, that's how I discovered it. I ended up flushing the transmission and radiator, bypassing the radiator portion of the cooler, and it was fine for years afterwards.

Don't change the fluid. It will be a waste of money and accelerate the problem.

Why would it be a waste of $?
I might just have to go trade it in

Would this happen if it was going up small hills? I had one do this and it was my fuel pump or filter. Couldn't remember. They were known to jerk when they were clogged or going out. Also changed out some
O2 Sensors on exhaust.

Also there's a sensor on tranny itself that will make it act up

I'll let you know a little secret.
When you swap to a new radiator and flush the transmission, swap the coolant to old school green coolant. Swap the transmission fluid to valvoline full syn dex/merc.
They both technically don't meet the spec, but outperform the recced fluid.
