While you may dig his hole deeper if you wish it will have no bearing on your status with a domestic violence charge, being "right" can cost you dearly here.

I have a feeling that more happened than him just calling the cops out of the blue, they don't care who is right or wrong or if he hid a gun or his dog was AWOL, stop confusing the law with what you feel is "right". None of that has any bearing on a DV charge.
