Max was happy doing the bondsman thing. She was just a pleasant distraction.
FWIW, I would have hammered Bridgett Fonda in that movie. Jackie too most likely.

I don't doubt that he liked what he did, but do you think he really liked it enough to not just drop it (or take an extended break for a while) to live a life of leisure with someone you really really really like?
