I am Catholic and I plan to teach my girls that evolution is how we got from a single cell organism to where we are today. Now, how did chemicals (which cannot evol) form a single cell organism? That's another topic.
Eta: in my Catholic high school, we learned evolution in biology and intelligent design / creationism in religion. There should be no teaching of ID or Cre in public school, period. Let the parents teach it at home.

Not sure what you mean by "chemicals" in this context...
Are you asking if something like acetonitrile (C2H3N) has evolved over time? I don't understand...
