Public schools pay more than private/charter schools in louisiana and it's really not even close. The only school I can think of that compares to a public school teacher salary/benefits package is Episcopal.

Education should not be a 'for profit' department

Why not??

All enterprises are basically for profit. Which are not? Even the government schools are "for profit". The profiteers are the bureaucrats who lobby government for more money. Epsicopal is "for profit"--it has to have revenue to operate.

"For Profit" vs "non profit" is basically just a tax issue.

In New Orleans, charters pay substantially more. You gey fewer holidays and the hours are longer, but charters pay more.
