He inherited a fortune that was worth maybe hundreds of millions of dollars decades ago. Not knowing exactly where he stands right now it could be somewhat impressive but not really self made or it could just be an at least he didn't totally frick up his incredible advantages. That money he inherited was going to grow into tres commas as long as he wasn't a total frick up. A lot of it would have to be speculative because total information isn't publicly available, but it is a reasonable conclusion that at least he didn't underperform market averages.

ETA: Regardless, either way you look at it, trying to spin him as this "self made man" is a remarkably, ludicrous spin, and I can't really believe that even anyone who tries to push that idea actually believes it themselves.

This is exactly my point. He spent money to make himself appear awesome. He's a WWE billionaire. He's a façade hell bent on making everyone think he's more awesome than he is. He bought his TV appearances to make minions love him. It worked and I cannot fathom what so many see in him. I don't hate all of his newly spoken ideologies but to me, he's a serial, maybe even pathological, liar. He is in over his head and incapable of taking advice.
