It might help for you to read the whole thing in context. He wasn't saying "shut up" in a fascist shut-the-media-down way. He was saying "shut up and listen" in a "you might learn something if you pay attention" sort of way.

It is very much an attribute of a facist. So is nationalim, isolationism, authoritarian declarations, white pride...etc. bannon is a threat to our democracy.

The media has abandoned their core principles and have willfully chosen full, unabashed, open advocacy of one side of the political spectrum.
You can't do that and simultaneously expect to be treated as though you retain even a shred of integrity.
It's akin to some guy telling his wife that he is banging chicks all over town but expects her to treat him as a faithful husband.
You can't have both.
