It's real simple. You can stay home, play for LSU and have a nice career winning 8-10 games a year and go to a mid-tier bowl every year. You will not have a chance to play for a championship of any kind. You will get to the NFL if you're good enough and you will be on TV a lot. For most Louisiana guys right now, that's enough.

Or, you can go a few hours away, still be close to home and be guaranteed that if you stay 3-4 years, you will play for multiple SEC titles and at least one national championship. There is a great chance your face will be splashed all over magazine covers and your life story might be told leading up to a title game. If you're a QB or running back, a Heisman is very possible. I mean, I get it. I hate Bama but I can see why a kid would want those things and it just so happens the only school in the nation which guarantees all of it is close to Louisiana and actively pushes for Louisiana players. LSU just doesn't offer any of that right now. Until that changes, this will keep on happening more and more.

Problem is most kids that LSU recruits from la that waver or flip flop are black.

Most kids that grow up loving and adoring LSU and the mistique of tiger stadium are white.

I say that assuming the fact that showing up on game days with your folks from the time you are 5 until high school actually means something and has that effect.
There isn't a whole lot of black families tailgating at LSU.

Anyway, point is I just don't think the mystique of playing at LSU is as important for black la kids as it is for white la kids.
The high school football coaches of Lousiana are the key here.
They are the ones that have the biggest influence.
Just my opinion.
