I'd buy an AFM equipped truck way, way before I'd buy one with those abrupt automatic start/stop features. In a few years that crap is going to infect every new vehicle on the market.

burning oil is not the issue with the 5.3l AFM equipped .
Having the lifters collapse and stay collapsed to where a cylinder head removal and lifter replace is the issue. Also rounding off camshaft lobes is another big issue with the AFM lifters.
