What the FBI actually did in this case is they used a warrant to seize the server hosting The Playpen site and used the software — referred to as a “Network Investigative Tool,” or NIT — to obtain identifying information from people who logged into it.

They basically used the existing website as a confidential informant to lead them to individuals guilty of heinous criminal activity.

Just as with many criminal investigations, they don't immediately shut down all criminal activity once they get in. They infiltrate and observe.

I do not have a problem with this.
