They just think there are millions of homeless dogs and breeding designer dogs for vanity purposes is stupid.
They are the "Adopt A Dog" people that frequent dog parks.
Its a funny conversation because we have a Goldendoodle
ETA:
Lots of people are like that. We get guilted all the time at dog parks by smug people who like to point out they adopted their dogs.
