for years the check is written in December but not cashed until January with no problems at all. the 2016 deduction should probably be taken on your 2016 taxes

Luckily my CPA sent out an email to remind us to go to the Sheriff website to pay it online for this exact reason. He wanted to make sure we paid in 2016 or it could not be part of 2016 taxes.
