The term fake news has jumped the shark when it has replaced "shitty journalism." There is clearly something to the investment, so it's not completely manufactured.

Perhaps we should define fake news. It's become as bad as "racist." Just a one liner insult with no real meaning.

I disagree. Shitty journalism is being too lazy or too incompetent to produce an accurate description of events.

Purposefully omitting information and /or contextualing information in direct conflict with reality to create a false narrative that attacks a policital opponent is the essence of fake news.

The OP exemplifies it perfectly. If they didn't know from the outset, CNN certainly knows specifics about Price's investments now.

Yet CNN continues to insinuate doubt about Price's ethics in conjunction with investments.

That is not "bad journalism".
Bad journalism is a sin of Omission.

It is Fake News.
Fake News is a sin of Commission.

You can add the terms melt and cuck to the list of over-used terms with little effect.
