The term fake news has jumped the shark when it has replaced "shitty journalism." There is clearly something to the investment, so it's not completely manufactured.
Perhaps we should define fake news. It's become as bad as "racist." Just a one liner insult with no real meaning.
You can add the terms melt and cuck to the list of over-used terms with little effect.

They've made no judgements as to the possible outcome.
By repeating Schumer's allegations wholesale with no qualification as to veracity, they were passing judgement. That's bad journalism.
The Trump transition Team and others pointed out to CNN that Price's financial advisor rebalanced Price's portfolio independently "to ensure proper diversification". In the course of the rebalancing, the portfolio manager purchased 26 shares of Zimmer Biomet's stock worth $2,697.14. Price learned of the purchase on April 4, 2016 when his financial advisor sent him a list of trades to be disclosed on his House Periodic Transaction Report (PTR). He filed those on April 15, 2016.
Documents were also provided to CNN showing Price began work on his legislative effort to delay the comprehensive joint replacement demonstration project in 2015, long before any related stock transaction.
CNN was asked to retract the story. Instead CNN has doubled down on questioning about it. CNN continuing to press the false narrative is "fake news"

They are "reporting" his allegations, which will surely be part of hearings, while not editorializing as to the possible outcome relative to his confirmation.

Although it was a very small investment, Zimmer Biomet does have a high rating, but is a company with a very high PE, flat to declining sales that is leaking cash at a pretty high rate. Maybe he was light on the speculative portion of his portfolio. Nevertheless....

The stock was purchased on 3/17/16 and he introduced the HIP Act, which benefitted ZBH on 3/23/16. Maybe it was a complete coincidence, that's what the confirmation hearings are for.

Nothing has been presented that would warrant a retraction. They reported how this came to pass and his explanation, it will be part of the confirmation, and they'll report the outcome...it's called "news". But keep on keeping on.

Did you really just try to sum up the merits (or imply a lack thereof) of the investment with one sentence and then just move on?

Auto rebalancing of his portfolio. Realized $300 in gains.
...and months later. CNN isn't even trying to be honest or truthful.

quote:So by that ""standard"" a major news outlet could claim Obama's Home Country is Kenya? Right? Because after all, that's what Michelle claimed.
Nothing has been presented that would warrant a retraction.
Or a major outlet could report Obama's birth certificate was forged, because after all Sheriff Joe Arpaio claimed it so.
That is the standard?
A news station can pass along what it knows to be pure shite as long as someone else is making the actual assertion?
That's quality reporting in your mind?
Really?

in other news CNN has just reported Trump is NOT a convicted child molester and satan worshiper.
we repeat, these allegations CANNOT be independently confirmed. we are only reporting on the fact that someone reported these things.
the news is that we are reporting on this story, not that we endorse it.
