I just want an explanation for the jolly rancher scene

No matter how bad the rest of the movie is, the jolly rancher scene just makes it unwatchable. I go back and forth on if I dislike Eisenberg or Leto performance more. Probably Leto cause Joker when done well ( Ledger) is comics on film at their best.
