Everglades fishing trip

So I've been pretty fascinated with fishing the Everglades lately and am considering possibly making a trip down there this year or next. I pretty much need to know if it's worth it and what to expect. Can I do this on a budget? I'd like to do the whole camp out deal if that's possible

What kind of fishing are you trying to do, and what time of year are you trying to do it?
The chickees are cool spots to camp, just make sure to reserve one. There are islands were you can camp and have camp fires as well. Getting someone to give up the location of good camping spots might prove difficult so be patient.
The bugs are the second worst bugs I've ever experienced and I've fished in fricking Amazon. Plan around the bugs.

I mean I don't really know which is why I'm asking. What's the best time of year and what can I expect to catch? I'd like to get in some mangroves catching snook, reds, etc.

I like the early part of the fall. The water is still warm enough for big poons but cool enough to hide from the bugs. It's just so hard to give precise information because the place is enormous. Type of boat is important as well. Navigating the interior can be very very sketchy. Florida marine tracks can help but it's $$$$$
If I were you I would pick a spot with a camp ground to use a homebase and plan your fishing from that spot.

I'd really like to do the whole beach/anchor the boat and camp out on some random beach. Don't even know if that's allowed and or possible with tides and whatnot

Cool link. I'll look more into it

Those elevated tent sites are exactly what i want to do at my duck lease instead of a permanent camp.

Yeah those are pretty legit

Looks like it. shite they almost flooded out the camp site

I'm pretty confused as well. How did the boats get completely overtaken with surf and the campsite/tents mere feet away werent aware

someone needs to tell me what TF happened here.
The tides around Cape Sable can be strong and the beach is exposed to the open water. The boats could have been anchored wrong and got pushed up on the beach where a few waves crashed over them and filled them up. It likely happened in a matter of seconds.
