After a very rough trip this past week on American, I think it may be time to look into status on another airline. The only two other options are United or Delta, with my opinions of Delta much higher than United.

For those of you delta elites, do you think it'd be worth it to do a status match to become a Gold member? At this point of the year I think the status would last until the end of January 2018. I'm in the process of booking trips to DCA and TXL before the end of february so I should easily make the 15,000 MQMS. I'm looking online currently at the benefits and it seems like they're the same as platinum on AA, except for unlimited comp upgrades and waved same day confirmed fees on Delta. I guess I could get used to flying through Atlanta instead of Dallas to get anywhere. Any recommendations are appreciated

Cuse- as a diamond I am happy to comment on any questions. The same day change feature is the best. That is super helpful. As a gold you won't get a ton of upgrades to first but can get some. You should get a bit more to economy comfort + which has more room and free drinks. You also earn more miles per dollar.

Who do you partner with for hotels? If you use SPG there are some great crossover benefits possible.

How much do you travel and is MSY your home airport?

There are 4 AMEX Delta cards. 2 types, each with personal and business version. Depending on how much you spend in a year, you can actually "spend your way to diamond" in a year since all of them earn you MQM. But that's an extreme scenario (You need to spend $240k total).

But it could easily be the difference between re-earning gold or bumping up to Platinum with a combination of flying + spending + spg crossover rewards.

Further, AmEx plat comes with sky club access when you're flying Delta. The Delta reserve card comes with skyclub membership meaning you can access it regardless of whether you're flying Delta or flying at all.
