Best bank fishing spots

Need advice on where to go for bank fishing. I'm going Tuesday since there will be warm weather (hopefully) and was looking to pick up tips as I don't usually salt water bank fish.
My buddy from Georgia wants to try somewhere on lake Ponchatrain and I was looking at somewhere along highway 1 near Golden Meadow.
All advice welcome. Thanks!
ETA: also, Speckled trout is preferred but I'll never turn my nose up at a good red fish spot.

Bank fishing on Ponchatrain can be done but there aren't many spots that will work with consistency.
I would strongly suggest going the Highway 1 route.

People scoff at it but city park (in New Orleans) is a blast to fish... I go out there all the time and catch decent sized bass. There's tons of places to fish. Let me know if you want to try it out and I'll let you know where (some of) the good spots are

I go to LSU and I've tried the boat ramp and under the interestate. Any advice besides that for the city park lake?
