I don't follow tv technology much, but I will never go back to using flat monitors

Better a ribbon cable than an HDMI (or multiple HDMIs if you aren't smart enough to switch through a receiver) and a dedicated power outlet.

Yea, when you're sitting directly in front of a curved tv, like you would a monitor, I guess it provides some small benefits. Other than that it's a waste of money

The only issue I see is viewing angle. With most TVs mounted high above a mantle, This would be an issue with no tilt.
