Yeah I don't buy that. Danny Etling looked like Joe Montana compared to the Heisman trophy winner. Why? Defense. The SEC isn't slipping, although there are definitely some bad coaches in the league.

Eta: the SEC isn't historically known for QB play, like they are for defense. I don't really see huge changes in the recent past in those categories.

we could have beat anyone the way we played Louisville.

Agreed. That's Part of the reason that the standards are so low, and part of the reason we find so many transfer QBs finding starting rolls here.

That offense would have struggled vs the same squads we lost against. Again, it's hard to accept that your standard is too low, when it's the only standard you've ever had.
