Philadelphia neighborhoods for rental house

Any advice on safe neighborhoods would be greatly appreciated (TIA).
Right now this rental on Airbnb is my front runner.
According to this article, it’s in a good part of town (looks like it’s near the corner of Bainbridge and Clifton on the West edge of Queen Village - Google Maps).
More info if necessary:
I'm planning a family vacation with kids for 2 families (4 adults, 6 kids) and I'm looking at rentals instead of hotel so that we can all be together. We're flying into Philly and touring the city and also going to Sesame Place for the kids before driving west for a family reunion. Staying 4 nights in Philly.

I lived in the Center City/Rittenhouse Square area for two years. Absolutely loved it and was very safe. I'd recommend checking that area out.

Wish I could. That would be a great area to stay. I couldn't find any rentals in that area that met our needs.
Do you know anything about the neighborhood for the one I linked in the OP?

That area is perfectly acceptable, its actually quite a good location right by south st. You can get around or uber pretty much anywhere, if you feel like walking to independence hall it's a bit of a hike but doable

Sesame place is not really close to there though, it's up 95 a bit in the northern suburbs. Newtown is a nice area with some good pubs if you wanted to get out of philly for a day. I'm hoping you're coming up here when it's not 34 and raining/slushy with 50mph winds

Agreed. That looks like it's in or near Society Hill which is a good area. You should be able to walk or take a short cab ride to most of the main attractions.
Enjoy Philly, very underrated city IMO. My fiancé lived there for 4 years, so I've visited my fair share.
ETA: Spruce Street Harbor Park down the road from that airbnb is a great spot in the spring. They usually have some sort of pop up park there year round with good food and drinks.

That area is more than fine. You should go check out the Magical Gardens which is right by. Cool place to take a few pictures.

I realize that. The rental is about a 40-45 minute drive to SP (depending on traffic).
Thanks for the suggestion about Newtown, we'll try to check it out.

We're coming in the summer (July), so I'm sure it will be the opposite.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I appreciate it.
Any other suggestions about Philly we should check out (remembering that we will have kids with us).
Also, any suggestions about Hershey Park or Dutch Wonderland or anything else in that area? After we stay a few nights in Philly we are driving to the middle of the state to stay another few nights before continuing on to Pittsburgh for the reunion.

We will have 4 adults and 6 kids with us. Do you think our best plan would be to Uber places or take another form of transportation? We'd have to take 2 Ubers to get anywhere with that many people. How is the subway in Philly?

Check out the Franklin Institute. I went right before I left for a Pixar exhibit. If I can think of anything else, i'll respond here.

Philly doesn't really have a subway. They use SEPTA which is more a regional rail. For getting around easily, I guess your best bet is cab or uber...or just rent a car. You could also maybe utilize the hop on/off tour buses to get to and from the major sights.
Can't think of much to do that is kid friendly since most of my trips were food/drink-centric.

I live about two blocks from there. Great neighborhood--safe and fairly centrally located. Have fun!

Go to hershey, you will not be disappointed. If your kids hate history stuff (like i did) then going to hershey park will easily make up for it. Plenty of amusement rides and water slides in the park (plus chocolate) to keep them occupied.
I would also recommend the renaissance fair, it's the same exit off the PA turnpike for hershey just right off the exit. Giant turkey legs, jousting, booze, everything to keep kids and adults occupied.
As far as philly transportation, i generally avoid the subway but I'm sure it's okay during the day. The busses aren't bad that run up and down market street. Stay away from north philly around the temple area

I live in Newtown. Let me know if you have any questions and coincidently I'll be st Sesame Place tomorrow. Wife got a groupon for next to nothing so it will actually cost us more to park than get in the park. Newtown is ok to visit and eat dinner but not much else going on, you can go to Shady Brook farm and see the Christmas lights. I think that's open for another week or two. There are a few hotels right beside Sesame Place. We are about 35 miles north of center city Phiily off of 95.

Just read in one of your later posts that you will be coming in July and then going to Shitsburg. Hershey is kinda on the way to there and is MUCH better than sesame place but I guess that depends on the age of your kids. My boys are 7 & 9 and pretty much have outgrown Sesame. The public transportation in Philly sucks unless it's commuter travel. Don't plan on taking it just to get around.

Thanks for the advice. We are stopping in Lancaster to go to Hershey and Dutch Wonderland on our way west.
As for transportation while we are in Philly, it sounds like we shouldn't even try the subway or buses and just drive anywhere we want to go. Would you agree with that? That's a shame - the subway in NY is so convenient to get around.
