Any background on this student athlete? He is a LB prospect which is an area of need for us. Why did O back off? You probably won't know the answer to this question until NSD is over, but I would suspect this means they believe they may have other linebackers they have targeted.

They were not sure if they would get rice. Rice is a E.E., It's why they offered Reid, in case they did not get Rice. If Rice called and told them he was out on Monday, Reid would have had a committable e.e. offer. Since Rice said he was in, the e.e. offer did not happen. They still wanted Reid, just couldn't take him as a e.e.

This seems the most plausible of the theories. Rice is the better fit in a position of greatest need. If we took Rice over Reed, then I think the staff made the right call. It looks strange at the time, since Rice seemed like a long shot, but it makes a lot more sense in hindsight.

He needs to get over the damn sour grapes. UT wanted him and showed him the love. Be greatful for what you have, rather than complaining about what you didn't get. It makes his chosen school look like a clear second choice with the way he's acting out over it.

I doubt this is true. The only option Reid had or would have had was Tennessee.

In the kids own words - on his only visit to Florida State - FSU's Jimbo Fisher told him they would offer. The kid told a recruiting service that he had an offer from FSU and the reporter checked and told Reid that a Seminoles’ staff member told the recruiting site that he didn’t have an offer. “So then I tried to call Jay Graham (his main recruiter at FSU), and he wouldn’t pick up the phone,”

That was after one visit to the FSU campus. NCST and Colorado wouldn't even have him in for initial visits.

I don't think he would have ever stepped foot on the LSU campus to play football unless he was wearing another team's uniform.

This link was in the first post of this thread and is pretty alarming when it comes to this kid. The really scary thing is that he was the one being interviewed for the article.

He went to FSU and Jimbo said he would offer. Reid never got the offer and FSU never answered another phone call from him.

He went to visit Michigan for the Wisconsin game. Him and his family were told Harbaugh was in a meeting and would not be able to meet with them during the visit. WTF??? Can't step out for five minutes to say Hi to a recruit on an official visit?

He said he took a test that Michigan requested - his words "“We sent it in, but then they never said anything after that. It had to be something with Coach Harbaugh, because Coach (Don) Brown loved me.”"

Was going to visit North Carolina State and Colorado, but both schools fell through with their pledges to bring him in. NCST and Colorado??? Wouldn't even have him in for a visit? Are they so loaded that both schools turned down a visit.

After reading the article and his quotes about what happened with the schools who recruited him, I have no doubt he would never have played at LSU. They probably would have saved the scholarship for next year before signing Reid.
