What year did you really begin to pay attention to LSU football

Not just become a fan. Everyone can claim they grew up in an LSU family so you have been watching them forever. But when was the first season you actually took it all in and became a dedicated fan, emotionally invested in the program? Also, who was that one player you remember from that season the most. Just want to get an idea of the different generations on the board.
For some on here I may be considered a newbie, or young LSU fan that never endured the pain of the 90's. My first season that I truly fell in the love with LSU was 2002. And for whatever reason, Labrandon Toefield is the main tiger I remember from that season.

When the Dr. slapped me on the arse and yelled "Go Tigahs!"

1992. I took a drunken fall at every game that year. Some were more epic than others, but I was laid out laughing on the ground at every game none the less.

Born into it. Whole family bleeds purple & gold. Family tradition that goes way back.

1962 began
2007 peaked
2011 wane began to set in
2016 upswing commenced
Enjoyed the Cholly Mac, Arnsparger, Saban years. Others, not so much, love/hate with Les Miles. Am very happy he is history. Getting excited about O.
The game which really stands out and have seen a lot of great ones (USC, ND, etc) was the Sugar Bowl vs Wyoming.
All time favorite players, Craig Burns on D and Al Coffee on O.

96. I was 7 when I became obsessed and started knowing more about LSU football than my dad, lol. Weirdest detail I remember from back then was Herb Tyler telling a reporter that he didn't cut his fingernails because they would click against the laces and let him know when he threw a perfect ball.

1958...as I listened to the LSU vs Ole Miss game and Cannon's run on radio. I was 10 yrs old.

My father told me in 1969, I watched LSU play Archive Manning and Ole Miss in Jackson, & when we lost, I told him my Christmas was cancelled

60's.
Too many players to mention but I always liked to hear the name "Joe Labruzzo".

1969. After LSU lost to Ole Miss 24-22 and didn't get to try a field goal when they ran it out of bounds. Last two seconds clicked off. (1972 was payback) My first player I remember was a few years earlier, Joe Labruzzo. My dad's favorite player.

Same here. I just turned 8 and that was the first year I really started to watch the games and know the players. Hodson to Davis....Eric Hill and Ron Sancho...great memories. What a team that was.
