You haven't played football at a high level have you? It actually does quite the opposite. It's takes your eyes off the line because you have to look to catch the ball then look up field, and it fools nobody, while on the contrary, a direct handoff allows the runner to keep his eyes upfield and makes you rely on the QB to put it in your gut. It also allows a plays action to come in handy.

Holy shite. The rb cant change direction IF HE DOESNT HAVE THE BALL. The toss allows him see the working holes and change direction.

Its also makes you committed to a spot until the qb puts it in your gut.

You clearly havent played any sport at a meaningful level.
