Hey gents... I typically fish Sorrel and Pigeon, but I was wondering what river stage do some of you reference when launching out of Belle River Public landing?

Thinking about venturing out more in the Basin and learning more areas... thanks for your input..

I really don't remember the number. Like everywhere else, high and rising sucks and a slow fall is best.

at Morgan City you want the water to be between 2.0 and 3.0 and falling for best results.
The main thing is green water and falling tho

Sounds about right. I know I used to fish it higher than 3' sometimes but I only did decent on a falling level.

4.0 is flood stage, which is when the swamps begin losing water and you can see bank. That's the first time to get big numbers.
The lower the water the less water in the swamp so the fish have to come out

Morgan City. I like 3' and below, preferably falling but I take what I can get. Any higher and the fish are in the woods and hard to get to. You can still catch them when above 3' but you will need some areas. It can be tough to just go out on a weekend and smoke them if the water isn't right.

In the summer you also have to deal with the skiers and drunks, so keep that in mind

You are thinking of Belle River it self. The public landing is on the basin side. I would love to see someone water skiing out there though.

I would have to say I have never seen any type of recreational boaters on the basin side

I saw one guy fishing runouts in Pigeon on a wave runner. He pulled right next to me and started casting. I didn't say shite as I was a little shocked to see that.
