this girl is not an obsessive pet owner. Her parents purchased the dog strictly because the doctors believed it was a last ditch effort to curb her erratic anxious behavior.

If I'm not mistaken, the dog cost over $10,000 due to its high level of training.

They did not purchase the dog as a pet. They purchased it as "medication", or rather "therapy".

You mean their insurance risk pool purchased the dog. Folks seem a lot more profligate with other people's money.

My guess is this is just bad psychology. People rather distract themselves externally than truly deal with the internal.

Good luck to them, may just need some tough love. Maybe a bootcamp would help, build up some confidence or something.
