I got a degree from snhu. It is a small private university with an extensive online catalog. It seems a lot of the alumni is upset with all the advertising because it causes people to group them with phoenix

Whatever you do, don't do Phoenix. It's a joke. My dog could get a degree from there - seriously. I taught with them for a couple of terms and walked away. The money wasn't that bad, but the courses were all watered down for those who could not get into a regular school that had selective admissions. UOP is open admissions. Whenever I tried to make the course more challenging, I caught hell from the administration. The administration will tell faculty that they want academic rigor, but God be with you if you give anything lower than a C for a final grade. They also frowned on giving tests, which I did anyway. However, many of the students could not read and write at an adequate level for college, which is why they went to UOP. The old saying was "pay the fees and get the C's". As noted earlier, I walked after two classes in total disgust and went back to teaching at a standard university, and eventually wound up teaching part-time for the university of my dreams, which I still do to this day.
One other thing, even though UOP may be "regionally accredited", their course credits will NOT transfer to a regular school. That says plenty right there.
