A little bit of both. It was dumb to offer him now but Tua should have been offered months ago

I'm sure O didn't expect Brennan to act like a diva about it.

I don't think anyone is going to defend that whole sequence of events. We had virtually zero chance of flipping Tua. Meanwhile, we have a QB committed to us who a) loved LSU, and b) was deeply committed to us - probably because of our commitment to him before he turned heads and added the extra star. Whether O plans to feature a spread QB or a pocket passer, we're not in a position where we can be selective. LSU needs a quarterback who can run an offense. Spread, wishbone, pro style - who gives a shite. We need production at that position. Alienating Brennan was a bad move.

It is the way he handled it, so he screwed up!

It isn't that he offered Tua it is when you have two highly rated players at the position already committed what were you trying to accomplish especially considering we don't even have an OC in place to explain what our offense is going to be like. If it was trying to bring in another talented QB into the fold, you failed miserably. If it was to give notice to Myles Brennan that he isn't what we are looking for at LSU, he definitely accomplished that!

Hopefully we will see a master plan behind this, but at this moment in time I have no clue what that is!!!

Wasn't the fact he offered, it's the fact he didn't let his other 2 QB's know what was going on.
They need to feel respected and secure in the choice that will occupy the next several years of their lives.

Screwed up as of right now. He knows how bad we need guys that can throw a pass accurately and not just run as in years past. You put your top QB recruit on notice through the media that you are not going to run the offense you originally stated, and are looking for a DT QB when he is more pro style. You proceed to offer the top DT QB only to find out that he has zero interest. Even if he did want to change the system, the media was not the place to make that announcement without talking to your top rated QB. Now it looks like Kiffin won't even make it here as he is a serious candidate for HC at Houston. It appears to be a screw up right now.

im not a recruiter, but being a 43 yr old human with a lot of personal interaction, I wouldn't have offered Tua until I had kiffin locked up. there was nothing to gain by offering him with the ASSUMPTION kiffin was coming. huge risk imo.

I think it is the difference between recruiting QB's vs every other position on the team. With every other position you can offer the best even though you might have little chance or have another stud at the same position. With QB it isn't that simple.

This is something Coach O will learn from. Or the new OC will handle QB recruiting from now on.

Coach O took a play out of sabans Playbook. Saban is famous for offering every kid that LSU offers. Just to try to spite us
