Polo isn't sold in the U.S.

Prius averages around 50 mpg on gas that is (at least where I live) around 15% cheaper than diesel. That means that you would need to get an average of about 57.5 mpg on the diesel for comparable fuel costs. Try to find a new model diesel sold in the US that averages above 57 mpg and will hold 5 passengers for less than $30k.

Batteries aren't dying on the Prius like people thought they would, and they continue to sell very well. If you are a commuter, you can drive it pretty cheaply and still have some value in it when you are ready to sell.
