Bapple...
What's your Top-3 1911 models around $800-$1,200 range?
I've been a 9mm person, but is the consensus to go .45 when buying a 1911? I'm sure it's personal preference. Just curious though, because I've been looking at Kimber's site a good bit, and they seem to offer more models in the .45 than the 9mm.

.45 is the caliber that the 1911 was built around. I can't speak to a "top 3-5" but I have a Kimber pro crimson carry ll in .45 that I really like.

I forget the exact tiers of all the different models, but I like Ruger, S&W, Sig, Springfield, Colt, and Remington. I think they all offer a nice entry level 1911 in that price range.
