I see some writers who likes the hire, but it sure seemed like a strange hiring process for Oregon.
It started with Fleck being reportedly being a favorite, then not getting interviewed at all.
Then, Chip had the contract papers drawn up, but backed out at the last minute.
Dan Mullen's name popped up briefly, but didn't gain much traction.
Next, they reportedly lose Matt Rhule to Baylor, which isn't a good look, if true.
Then Chip re-enters the picture, with many "insiders" claiming it was done, and would be announced today.
We wake up today, and Willie Taggert is the coach. Maybe he will turn out to be a good hire, but to the outside it seems like a poorly executed coaching search.

This type of thing is more common than the opposite situation like Texas where they had their guy all lined up and ready to go

The other finalist for the Oregon job was Mississippi St. coach Dan Mullen, according to @McMurphyESPN
