Judge Buras says the state filed a motion last night. Made some statements to police about self-defense. Prosecutor would like to exclude.

State argues to exclude a statement from Cardell Hayes to police, claiming self-defense, in trial over Will Smith killing. Judge grants.

The reason why I am surprised about state not using Hayes' statement is that when I viewed it, I thought his body language was terrible.

That's strange, why would a statement that the defendant made be able to be excluded? Do they just get to pick and choose what they want to exclude from a person's statement?
