I love what Norway and Sweden have contributed to metal music. Even now, guys like Ola Englund are putting out great material.

Storm of the Lights Bane changed my life, and with that, I mean the way I played guitar, drums etc. Jon Nödtveidt was incredibly talented imo, and a huge influence.

TBH I wish Thulcandra didn't rip them off so much, so I could.

I'm not sure if there is another region of the world that puts out more quality music artists per capita than Norway and Sweden. Hell, even their Scandinavian brothers in Finland, Denmark, and Iceland have done some phenomenal things.

It just seems like the best elements of American culture and music influenced these artists from the past two or three generations. Thrash, death, and prog have all undergone a discernibly Nordic shift in sound and style.

There was a time not long ago when it would have been absurd to lump any non-British or American band with the revered Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Metallica, Slayer, etc. But now, how can you not include bands as influential as At the Gates, Opeth, Meshuggah, Entombed, Dismember, Dissection, and so many more?
