What happens when two highly rated or undefeated teams meet in a conference championship game or 12th game? End of season rivalries and conference championship games would both be devalued in an 8 team playoff. The end of the regular season would be far less important than it is today.

We just watched a B1G championship game that likely meant nothing. The SEC championship game today likely meant nothing.
