Lake Cataouatche from Bayou Segnette launch?

What is the normal way people make this run? It looks like you can run on way through a very windy path to get to the lake near the island between lake C and Lake Salavador... or you can follow the levee and turn through whiskey canal to get to the north of Lake C.
The windy way looks a bit daunting having never gone through there and knowing how crazy other people drive their boats... and the whiskey canal way seems like most of it would be at idle with all the camps on the water.

Thanks!
I still get confused by the difference between marsh, bayou, canal, and all the other terms for bodies of water that look exactly the same to me..

Take main canal to Bay baydeau (not sure on the spelling). I been hunting and fishing there all my life. Have any questions here is my email. Chaisson187@gmail.com

Not to hijack the post, but what is the best way to the gulf canal?
Is it safer to come from Des Almonds or Bayou Segnette?

Depends on the weather. Less open water to run from Segnette looking at a map. Never ran that route though. We typically launch in Bayou Gauche or occasionally at pier 90. Cataouche and Salvador can both get rough in bad or windy weather

I have ran bayou Segnette and pier 90 both on a windy day to reach the tank pond.
I would not do it ever again.
I was in a 21 ft champion bass boat and it was rough.
I never launched at des almonds but I know people do come in from that way.
It looks tight being right there under the 90 bridge.
Bayou Gauche never launched from there.and I do not know where that one is.

Has the fishing in Catouatche improved over the last few years?

don't mind hijacks at all since it helps me understand better too. Where is the gulf canal?

Thanks, is this one of the main ones near the north of lake C?

If you look on a map it is in the West side of Lake C. You would get into Lake C. It is a long canal and has a lot of canals off of it that at times hold bass. I think it is in a wildlife mgmt area and the only canal I know they do not like you on is what people call game warden canal. It has a big game warden camp on it.
It is South of the tank pond and North of the bayou going to des almonds.

The Bayou Gauche launch is all the way st the very end of the only road on Bayou Gauche Island. You turn off Hwy 90 at Bayou Gauche Road (only light in Paradis) and just go till you get to the end of the road and follow the rock road. Launch is nothing fancy but cuts off 10-15 minutes of running time in the boat.

Bayou Segnette. It's safer and probably quicker

What part of the lake are you trying to fish? I've ran Signette straight out to the lake when fishing on the side of Couba island (the island separating Cataouatche from Salvador). If you're trying to get to the tank ponds, I'd launch at pier 90, or if you have to launch at Signette state park and want to get to the tank ponds, run the canal over. Its a little shorter and avoids any waves in the lake which can get dicey.

Thanks BeauxNArreaux,
I really want to explore all over - i have heard around the island is good, fishing the shoreline of Lake C is good and also the tank ponds. I know I can't fish all 3 in a day but was trying to find a launch spot that could make it work.
I have a 19 foot bay boat, it can't handle huge waves, but a light chop I can still run decent.
I also heard that Pier 90 floods alot and is hard to launch from. Is that not true?
