Yep my female hound mix always has ear problems. Wife did the home care stuff, but never worked. Took her to the vet and they prescribed steroid medicine. After that she has no issues.
Like someone above said its from dirt, water or heat in the summer. If the dogs ears are long enough the vet might suggest drops and then to tie up the dogs ears.
