It looks like a cool concept that will unfortunately be ruined by political bias, like the Newsroom.
If a liberal said this about a conservative-leaning show, we would call them a whiny SJW. Whats the conservative equivalent?
You don't have to judge everything based on your political views.

The difference is that I will give it a shot. HBO has a history of making shows that only show catholicism in a terrible terrible light. The Catholic Church is a flawed institution, but when one media outlet consistently demonizes it over and over and over again atthe expense of story telling, it shows that they are the ones who cannot seperate politics from storytelling.
Yes, I'm a conservative. I'm a conservative who's favorite show for over a decade was The Daily Show with Jon stewart (Noah is pretty much unwatchable these days). I'm a conservative who rips on conservatives and liberals constantly. However, I get very frustrated when I see storytellers ignore one side or focus ridicule exclusively on one side at the expense of story telling. HBO has earned my suspicion when it comes to them telling stories about the Catholic Church. Just as Sorkin couldn't contain his need to bash conservatives sunk The Newsroom, I fear people within HBO's hatred and ignorance of the Catholic Church will sink "The Young Pope".
With that being said, I really hope I'm wrong.

I watched all of season 1 of newsroom and I'll give the pope a chance. I'm not going to watch a show if it spends the whole hour insulting me or my beliefs which is about what the Newsroom did.
West Wing only demonized 2 republicans. It occasionally showed democrats in a sour light too. Newsroom was nothing more than the MSNBC Olberman Maddow hour.
Having said that, one of these days I'll even watch season 2 simply because I did like all of the actors involved with the show and I'm interested to see if they toned down the rhetoric like Sorkin said he would after season 1.
